The True Horrors of Hell

Iam standing in front of my house, which is fortunately still standing. My sister is kneeling down, gardening. Even though everything is peaceful, I have a feeling that something bad is about to happen. Ava stands up, wipes the sweat from her brow, then starts to climb up the stairs to the porch. When she is about to open the door, she suddenly glances back, scanning the rows and rows of trees. She looks nervous, which then makes me nervous. She senses something is about to happen too and runs inside, slamming the door behind her. Suddenly, loud booming footsteps sound behind me. I spin around, coming face-to-face with Gealieke. His usual glare is plastered on his face, and he is growling.

“You know, you’ve surprised me, little Hero. I didn’t think you would survive this long, but now I’ve found out that you’re pretty resilient. I respect that, but sometimes being resilient isn’t the best move. Especially with me.”

“Well, I’m not like other people. I’m sometimes annoying like that.”

“Let me just say: enjoy your life while it lasts. I have spies everywhere,” he pauses, a malicious grin spreading over his face. “You can hide in the deepest, furthest places in Sarjigard, but I will find you. And if you decided to run away from your duties, then Zerinthe will make it so that us demons live on the surface, and that the humans are banished to hell. Not that I would mind that.”

It suddenly feels like fifty pounds of lead has just been placed on my back. This is his plan. He wants me to become more and more rushed and insecure than I already am, and it is working. But I won’t end up like that. I muster up as much confidence as I can.

“You can kill all of the people I love, but I will keep going. You can put me in hell to rot, but I will keep going. You can turn everybody I know against me, but I will keep going.” Gealieke seems angry but surprised. Really bad combo of emotions when it comes to Gealieke.

“I could kill you right now, but I would just get the same result,” he says angrily, confusion washing over me.

“What do you mean?”

“Oh, you want to know? Well too bad, because then it would take all of the fun out of this game.”

“I hate you, you stupid bitch!”

“That’s funny. That’s exactly what I said when he banished me to the deepest parts of hell, where you said I could put you and you would survive. But I know the true horrors of hell, and you wouldn’t survive two minutes in hell, so don’t even think you could survive,” he says furiously.

“What do you mean?” I ask cautiously

“I tell you this every time we talk; I won’t tell you!” The image starts to dissipate, which means I am about to wake up. Crap! I think furiously. Gealieke takes the spear off his back and points it at me.
